Halloween is slowly creeping into Disneyland! The official start date is September 6 but with just a week to go signs of the spooky season are beginning to show! The Haunted Mansion has closed to receive it’sThe Nightmare Before Christmas annual makeover, pumpkins and colorful banners are already on Main Street and the big Oogie Boogie sign is being installed over Disney California Adventure. Delightful frightful merch is in all the windows and spook-a-licios treats can already be found. So much fun to be had this Halloween season at the parks!
Let’s start with Disneyland!
Mickey and all his friends will be dressed in their Halloween best and ready to greet guests. You can also find Jack Skellington and Sally roaming around New Orleans Square.
As I mentioned before, The Haunted Mansion gets a seasonal layover to the theme of The NIghtmare Before Christmas. You can experience this all the way until January 6th as it stays this way through the holiday season too.
Probably the most iconic photo op of the Halloween season is the huge Mickey shaped pumpkin at super vidalista the end of Main Street. This is a classic photo that is a must on everyone’s list. My family gets that Mickey pumpkin photo every year! But beyond the huge Mickey Pumpkin, Main Street is filled with so many hand carved pumpkins! Take the time as you walk down Main Street to really notice and admire all the details in the pumpkins.
As the night grows dark a show called Halloween Screams will began. Your “Master of Scare-omonies” will be Jack Skellington and his dog Zero. This night time show will feature projections of ghost and classic Disney villians such as Maleficent and Ursula as the air is filled with spooky screams and sounds. On select nights there will be fireworks that accompany Halloween Screams. As of now no schedule has been released but typically the fireworks happen on weekend nights.
Disney California Adventure
Now lets move on to Disney California Adventure where Buena Vista Street will be filled with spooky decor and clouds of black bats swarming Carthay Circle Theatre’s Bell Tower. Don’t miss the Headless Horseman. He makes for a great photo op too.
It’s Haul-o-ween in Radiator Screams as Carsland gets into the Halloween Spirit. You can find Lightning McQueen dressed as a superhero and Mater as a Vampire. Be sure to take a spin on Luigi’s Honkin Haul-o-ween and Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree as these rides put their own twist on Halloween.
Guardians of the Galaxy turns into Monsters After Dark. Join in as Rocket races to save Groot from crazed creatures on the loose!!
And of course the biggest event during Halloween time is the Oogie Boogie Bash. This is what used to be called Mickey’s Halloween Party and took place in Disneyland. This year it has been renamed to Oogie Boogie Bash and moved to Disney California Adventure. This is a special ticketed event that happens on select nights. This is a fun filled night with special happenings that only occur during the Oogie Boogie Bash. You can read more about this fun night here.
That sums up all of the Halloween happenings at Disneyland during Halloween Time this year. I hope you enjoy your time at the parks this Halloween season.
Don’t forget to live the magic!
