Mickey: The True Original Exhibition

By

Every December my family travels to New York City with a group of friends we are blessed to call family. We love experiencing the city at Christmas time and our annual trip is something we look forward to all year long. When Mickey: The True Original Exhibition was announced I was so excited to see it would be there during our trip!

My family and I went on Friday and had such a great time. I was a little bummed because Adaley fell asleep as soon as we arrived and slept through the whole thing. But you know what they say, never wake a sleeping baby! HA! But it all worked out because on Sunday several people in our group decided they wanted to go so we joined them. That’s how much fun it is, we decided to go a second time!

Mickey: The True Original Exhibition celebrates 90 years of the icon Mickey Mouse legal 18 personnes sont dtenues dans les les balares et and his presence in our pop culture. The exhibit takes you through Mickey’s 90 year journey from the original Steamboat Willie up to the Mickey Mouse we know and love today. The exhibit is interactive and has so many fun photo ops! And don’t forget to look for the Mickey’s hidden through out the exhibit! The exhibit is full of classic Mickey reimagined by talented artist who put their love of Mickey on display.

Each room is filled with a different era of Mickey and will have you reminiscent of all the phases of the one and only Mickey Mouse. Half way through the exhibit there is even ice cream served in a room set up as a cute little soda pop shop! There is a jukebox  playing classic Mickey tunes and TV’s playing Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episodes throughout the years! Not to mention all of the nostalgic memorabilia from the original Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. The final room is filled with Mickey Mouse merchandise from throughout the years. There is also a copy of the original sketch believed to be the earliest drawing of Mickey Mouse by Walt.

As you exit the exhibit there is a gift shop with some cool souvenirs you can get to take home. There is also the Mickey’s Maker Shop where you can make your very own custom shirt which will be your very own “true original” ?

This exhibit is the true embodiment of pop culture around a classic icon. And even though it is a different edgier take on our beloved Mickey the classic feel still remains. It was such a fun way to see how Mickey Mouse evolved into the icon he is today! The artists featured in this exhibit are truly talented and did an amazing job of showcasing the evolution of Mickey, the true original.

I encourage you to go if you have the chance. We had a wide range of ages in our group as well as people who just know who Mickey is to true Disney lovers like myself and I can honestly say everyone enjoyed this exhibit. Mickey: The True Original Exhibition runs from now until February 10, 2019. If you are in NYC during this time I highly recommend you check it out!!
